This leap year, and every leap year for over a millennium, we celebrate the true feast day of St Oswald of Worcester, Archbishop of York, who died on 29 February 992, while in the Lenten act of washing the feat of the poor. In ordinary years, his feast is bumped back to the 28th, which seems dishonorable.
Above, a modern stained-glass rendering of Oswald, in Worcester Cathedral.
A belated mention but nonetheless of interest.
